Happy Monday friends!
How was your weekend and how are you adjusting to the time change? After a later (than usual for me) night out celebrating a friend’s birthday, I woke up yesterday at 10:30am feeling like a complete and total deadbeat. The reason? Unless I’m sick or completely hungover, I never sleep that late. Twenty mins and a cup of coffee later, I finally remembered that we sprung ahead which for me means we lost an hour of time in exchange for many sweet longer-lasting days. In my book, that’s a win.
It’s been about two weeks since our last catch up and if remember correctly, I was on my way out of town for work. If you’ve been wondering what I’ve been up to since that trip, don’t worry because I’m gonna tell you (if you weren’t wondering…well, too bad, I’m gonna tell you, too).
I went to Disneyland. For the first time ever. It was SO much fun. I went on the Madhatter and Hyperspace Mountain; and thanks to my friend’s 5 year old daughter, who is a resident Disney expert and princess in training, I got the 411 on the princesses I needed to see. (Thanks, K-Bear).
I had my first visitor. True to form, one of my best girls and NYC roomie, Becky, came to visit me in SF. Becky is always down for a trip so it’s no surprise she was my first guest in my new city. She’s ventured to visit me in just about every place I lived and is pretty much always the first one. Sean and Philina (two of my MD faves) also ventured down from Sonoma and stayed over Saturday night. It rained the whole.damn.time, but thankfully, we all know how to have a good time despite the rain. It was so nice having a piece of east coast/home here, and I’m grateful for the time I got to spend with her because naturally, I miss her dearly.
I went to my first movie. Not ever, but here. You know how I talked about acclimating to a new city? Well, finding a movie theatre and subsequently going to the movies is on that list. I went to see Spotlight and it was a good film. I recommend.
I’ve had a date or two. Including to the movies. Ha! Still not “ready” to share much about that just yet, but I will in due time. That said, what I can share is that dating in SF is much better than dating in NYC. Quality of guys is on par, but I think more guys are receptive to actually dating out here as opposed to always holding out for the next best thing (which is how I felt things were in NYC). I get way more matches, way more messages and way more people actually asking me out on dates. As a result, I loosened up a little bit. I still have standards, but I feel less guarded and more comfortable.
I got the hottest pair of J’s. And Sean got them, too. I love these sneakers and will cherish them for a long while.
I’ve discovered three new fun places in my hood. Mission Bowling Club, a fun bar/restaurant/retro bowling alley that plays great music, Kitchen Story which is home to the famous Millionaire’s Bacon (Leslie, you will DIE for this bacon when you visit) and Monk’s Kettle which carries amazing craft beer (and wine, too).
I had to use a plunger. TMI but I need everyone to know that I unclogged a toilet like a champ. Not going to lie though, I seriously felt like I was experiencing through the 5 stages of clogged toilet grief when I realized something was wrong and that Daniel, our maintenance guy was sick. Thankfully, the building has a “community plunger.” As you can see from the below text convo (names have been removed to protect the innocent, lol), I was not thrilled about using the plunger but my girls were supportive and thankfully, it was quick and not messy at all. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
I started Season 4 of House of Cards. I’m only on episode 7, but holy crap, Frank and Claire are just as ruthless as I’ve ever known them to be. Naturally, I’m obsessed.
…and basically, that’s what’s been up in my neck of the woods. The next few weeks will include, working out, work, working out, House of Cards, working out, The Bachelor finale, working out, getting my hair done (I think I found someone I’m really going to like – YAY!) and working out. I’m basically in beast mode for Miami so, yea, working out.
Tell me: What have you all been up to lately? Is it just me or does a 1 hour time change feel like a 10 hour time change? If you watch The Bachelor, who are you rooting for?
I definitely woke up 2 hours late today so I would say DLS got the best of me haha. Also, The Underwoods and this plan is out of control/outrageous but makes for an awesome Season 4!!! We are on episode 9 and it just keeps getting better and better. It almost makes me sad, 5 more and then comes the 365 day wait for Season 5 :(.
I know!! Honestly, this is why I have a love/hate with Netflix shows and the cadence…once a year just isn’t enough!
um i can’t believe this is the first time you’ve had to use a plunger……LMAO!
Yes, first time…and honestly, it wasn’t that bad at all. I was all shook; and it ended up taking 15 seconds. All that anxiety over nothing. Lol.
Reward for beast mode… Bacon
Hahahahaha…. LOL!!! I can’t believe the fiasco with your having to use a plunger for the first time in our life; and the text messaging back and forth was HILARIOUs too! LOL!!! At the end of the day, I am glad that you realized that it wasn’t a big deal after all. But I must agree that you should count it all JOY because I’ve had to use the plunger so many times in my life that I can’t even count; and a time or two, Roto Rooter had to be called! Now that’s a dilemma… LOL!!! (Wasn’t funny then 🙁 ) Glad to hear that the dating scene is more happening on the west coast! Mecky, I recall every since your IHOP days you’ve had a love for sneakers… So it’s no surprise that you’ve added to your collection. Though I have to admit your new J’s are HOT! I love you. ~MOM XOXOXOXO 🙂
UM my last Sunday morning was #strugglecity haha… can’t wait to hear all about your hot dates next time I see you! xo
Haha! I know. Can’t wait for dinner! Xo
