Adventures in 2016

sparkling_2016

I know it’s been a (long) while, but I couldn’t resist wishing you all a happy 2016. As I spend my last few days savoring every moment on my beloved East Coast (more on that in a second), I’m welcoming 2016 with an open heart and an open mind.

At this point, most of you already know, but in September I accepted a new role at my company, which requires me to work out of the mothership office in the San Francisco Bay Area. I started in November and have been slowing transitioning out west, traveling back and forth between coasts every few weeks. Living out of a suitcase while trying to ramp up on a new brand with a new team, in a new state without a home, a car or a clue, has quite honestly been the most brutal transition in my life to date. But as the Bible (and my Dad always) says: to whom much is given, much is required.

After packing up my life the days leading into the holiday (thanks, Mom!), I head out to SF for good on Sunday; and when I land I’ll head to an apartment where I currently have no bedroom furniture or my belongings. But I’m going to embrace this new journey and experience for all its worth and remember just how blessed I am to take these types of chances and risks — all in the hopes of fulfilling my wildest dreams.

Aside from my immediate need to get my home life/bedroom organized by end of the month, some of goals for 2016 are: give the Bay Area a chance, keep an open mind with dating, wear my hair curly more often, learn about and be active in the SF fitness scene, refresh and maintain a budget, pay off 2 of my graduate student loans (I know, I really should consolidate but not before I knock a few of the lesser ones off), exceed expectations at work, embrace turning 35, be an even better daughter and friend, take 1 international vacation and chronicle my life more (here and in my personal journal).

Happy New Year friends!

What are your goals for 2016?

  1. You are SO welcome Mecky… Helping you pack was therapeutic for me in that I got to spend some real quality time with you prior to your departure. Although a bit chaotic with so many dresser drawers, closets, kitchenware etc. to pack up… I honestly had the best time with you. I will cherish it as one of my most memorable times with you… It was seriously my dream vacation of packing. LOL!!! I enjoyed every minute and second I had with you and I am missing you already! You have great goals this year! The one I particularly love is you becoming a better daughter of course. You are already SO GREAT at being my daughter… I’m excited to not only witness you reaching this goal but am also excited about the additional joy I’ll receive as a result of being your mom! My #1 goal is to visit you within the next 2 or 3 months! I love you SO MUCH! XOXOXOXO 🙂 ~Mom
