I’d rather…

Today I had a day full of doctors appointments. Since I recently started a new job, I have new insurance and it’s been a while since I’ve taken care of all my well visits so a few weeks back, I scheduled a few of them so I can get the ball rolling.

A few weeks flew by and before I knew it, I was working from home to accommodate my two appointments. First I started out at the carpool* recommended primary care doctor who is absolutely fabulous. I feel like I hit the jackpot. Efficient yet incredibly friendly. My appointment was pretty boring especially since I’d seen Dr. A twice in the last three weeks due to a nasty cold. Basically a little pokey here, a little proddy there and I was on my way.

Second was the dentist who was also carpool recommended. Now ever since a terrible appointment I had back in 2006 where I had 7 (yes seven – don’t judge me) cavities, I’ve been terrified to think about sitting in that dreadful chair not once but twice a year. And today was no different. I arrived early to fill out my new patient paperwork but honestly I was just hoping to get in the chair sooner so that I could just get it over with. But being a new patient and all, I had the whole gamut of crap that they do – X-rays, mouth scans, etc.

random thought: if only the dentist were as cute as this picture. which I lifted courtesy of SodaHead.com

After all of the scanning and pictures my actual cleaning began and just like always I clenched and clammed up like clockwork. As I was sitting in the chair I actually thought, I’d rather go to the gyn twice a year then come to the dentist twice a year. Yup, that’s right. I’d rather have a doctor look at my lady parts then have one look in my mouth. A mouth which use every day. Fucked up? Absolutely. But true.

And because twice isn’t enough, after 7 years since my 7 cavities, I’ll be going back in a few weeks to fix a small baby cavity. Lucky, lucky me!

*Carpool = a bunch of my colleagues who like me, live in New York but work in New Jersey. Our commute is roughly 65 miles each way so THANK. GOD. FOR. THEM.
