Friday Favorites | January 15th

Happy Friday, y’all. We made it! Phew.

Grab your coffee (or drink of choice) and catch-up.

Guess who’s boxes finally showed up on the left coast? Yup, you guessed it. Mine! All 27 of them. (Side note: Holy crap y’all. I have a lot of stuff).

So suffice it to say that in between dinner with friends and spin classes at Soul, will be runs to BBB (Bed, Bath & Beyond) and Target. I’m even more grateful for the long weekend because it’ll give me a chance to finish digging myself out of all my boxes; and have absolutely everything that I need in one place (for the first time in months). So to close out the week, I thought I’d shared what’s been getting me through with my first ever Friday Favorites post.

What is Friday favorites you ask? Well, it’s a chance for me to share some of my favorite things from the week (e.g. the things I typically share with all my friends via email, text, IG, you know). And in this case, you get a two-for-one because I’m sharing all my favorites from the last TWO weeks. (Note: After posting about acclimating to a new city last Friday, I decided to hold off on releasing Friday favorites in an effort not to spam you all with two posts in one day. 🙂

So in no particular order here it goes:

Ouote of week: “One cannot simply knuck if they are not buck.” – Unknown (but hilarious, so thank you!)

Fun

The story of this bunny’s posh hotel stay is the most adorable thing ever. One could only hope to be treated so nicely if left behind. 🙂

Gotta be honest: I’m more of a dog person but the stars of this IG account are down AF. Tuxedos mandatory.

And speaking of Insta, my favorite account has done it again.

Music

Ever hear a song and feel instantly reminded of a very specific time and place in your life? Yea, me too. This Spotify playlist brought me back to life in the mid-to-late 90s and made me super nostalgic.

Of course I was super sad about the passing of David Bowie. One of my favorite songs that feature him is Under Pressure, by Queen, which I have strategically placed around three-quarters of the way through my half marathon playlist as its just the boost I need when I’m under pressure and feel like throwing in the towel. On Monday, David Bowie’s isolated vocals were released and holy shit: amazing. Makes me love the song and him even more.

As a former member of an awesome (work) carpool and someone who loves karaoke, I always enjoy carpool karaoke with James Corden. However, this one with Adele is absolutely everything & probably my fav one to date.

Finds

Despite leaving the cold temps, I’m in a need of an in-between coat. Something that’s not too warm but also not too light — you know for the high 30s to low 50s. Leslie recommended this one which is not only in one of my favorite colors but also on sale. Score!

I finally broke down and bought a pair of these after eyeing them for a few seasons. If you happen to own a pair then you’ll believe me when I tell you that they’re backordered until March. By the time they get to me I’ll probably forget I ordered them.

I love anything personalized … and I’m obsessed with these. #personalizedeverything

Beauty

One of my goals for 2016 is to wear my hair curly more often (which I’ve done basically all week). After asking around to a few folks, I’ve decided to test out a few different products and hair tools in order to tame my mane. So far this leave in conditioner (below) has been doing the trick and this wet brush cuts my detangle time in half. Honestly, I can do a post on the brush alone. It’s pretty amazing.

Fitness

I know that I’m more likely to get a workout completed in the morning. But since I spend most days commuting down the peninsula for work, I don’t have a lot of time to workout before I have to head out. Thankfully, I’ve found a few quick, yet effective home workouts (that require little to no equipment) compliments of a few of my favorite fitness blogs / bloggers:

If you try one of these routines, let me know what you think.

Now it’s your turn: Any quick, effective workouts you care to share? What’s the one thing you’re coveting as of late?

Have a happy Friday (and a great weekend) all!

    1. Thanks Cait! It was my first Friday Favorite and first time linking up so I’m glad you were able to find me… I’ll definitely head to yours. Happy Friday! 🙂

    1. Totally awesome! Especially when I just need one cup and don’t want to waste a whole pot. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and commenting! I appreciate it.

  1. Hi Mecca! Ohhhh the joys of moving. My boxes of stuff arrived three weeks after I did into the city, which was not fun. And you’ll find that you constantly have to layer your clothing around here — in-between jackets and sweaters for sure. Good luck unpacking this weekend. And by the way, I went to UM my first two years of college. Small world! 🙂 I ended up graduating from UF though!

    1. I was in between here and the east coast for two months and honestly, this transition has been brutal. I actually found your blog when I discovered I was moving to the Bay and read a few of your posts about your transition, which made me totally relate and feel a bit more at ease knowing I’m not the only one who’s gone through a big cross country (away from all your family) move.

As far as unpacking, I thankfully and down to six boxes (yippee)!

And yeah to Florida schools! I have lots of Gator friends. FSU on the other hand… 😉

  2. Mecky, Yes!!! The bunny story is one of my FAVS too! I actually first heard of how he was treated at the Adare Manor on the Today Show! So cute! Also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Leslie’s stylish find in an in between coat… that Utility Parka is EVERYTHING!!! And those LL Bean boots (that are on back order until kingdom come… LOL) are adorbs too!!! Thanks for sharing the find on the leave in conditioner… I have to try it for the days I sport my natural look! ~MOM Love you! XOXOXO 🙂
